As populations continue to grow, so will our infrastructure needs. Critical areas in this sector will include the maintenance and construction of new roadways, the management of water supply, waste filtration and residential real estate development in urban spaces. One of the key benefits of civil engineering is that it is ‘recession-proof’. In a healthy economy, construction engineers build new infrastructures; in a recessed economy, civil engineers repair existing ones.
Civil engineering jobs are slowly moving from the West to the East. You must look for companies that are opening shops here and stick to the south-southeast Asia where the developmental boom is about to come. With more railroads being laid in India and the jump in space technology, the country needs to improve and add to its infrastructure. The scope of growth is more in India, even though the quality of life is better in the West.
