Pull Planning an Alternative to Traditional Scheduling
Is traditional scheduling failing to deliver your projects on time? Come learn a different approach to scheduling that starts with the end in mind, "pull planning". Pull planning is based on the Last Planner(R) System developed by Glenn Ballard and Greg Howell, co-founders of the Lean Construction Institute.
It is designed so that those actually performing the work are engaged in the planning and scheduling activities. Handoffs are defined and constraints identified and tracked to facilitate more reliable and predictable work flow. Activities and handoffs are defined as part of a group scheduling exercise with commitments met as one of the key metrics. Some describe pull planning as scheduling with Post-Its. Come compare regular scheduling with pull planning yourself in a 4-hour hands-on simulation with some of the industry's experts.
