How to measure excavation work & determine it?s cost
In this construction tutorial, you will come to know the method required for measuring excavation work and it?s price.
Given below, step-by-step processes :-
First Step:
Determine volume: Suppose, the excavation work is done for 4 columns with equivalent dimension length where the footing of the columns is 5 feet, width is 5 feet and depth is 4 feet. So, the volume will be calculated as follow :-
The calculation is done based on the following data :-
L = 5 feet
W = 5 feet
Depth = 4 feet
Volume = Length x Width x Depth = 5 x 5 x 4 = 100 ft3
As there are 4 footings for column, volume of 4 footings will be calculated as follow :-
4 x volume of 1 footing
4 x 100 = 400
So, total volume = 400 ft3
Second step:
Price of excavation work
Suppose, the cost of excavation = 20/cubic feet
It signifies 1 cubic feet = 20/Rs
Therefore, total cost/price = 20 x total volume
Total cost/price = 20 x 400 = 800
