How to find out correct volume of concrete cube

This construction video tutorial presented by Mukesh Sah, the renowned civil engineer, will guide you to work out concrete cube volume in cubic meter.

The dimension of the concrete cube is taken as follow :-

Length = 150 mm = 0.15 m

Breadth = 150 mm = 0.15 m

Height = 150 mm = 0.15 m

The cubes are utilized to verify the compressive strength.

Here, the metric mode of measurements is used. Now the question is why the size of a standard cement concrete cube taken as 150mm?

In 150x150x150mm cube the dimension 150mm is equivalent with the pressure plate dimension.

If it is under 150mm the total pressure distribution does not follow specification (IS codes) and it will demonstrate in excess of the cube value.

If the dimension is exceeding 150 mm, the pressure distribution will not to the entire surface of the cube.

To find out the volume of the cube, the following formula is used :-

Length x breadth x height = 0.15 x 0.15 x 0.15 = 3.375 x 10-03 m3 (result is obtained through a scientific calculator)

In order to get the correct figure, the point situated between 3 should be shifted to three positions ahead (as value is -03).

Put zero in these positions. So, we get the following figure :-

0.003375 m3
