The low bid for Clarksville’s sewage-treatment plant upgrade and expansion was $15.98 million - about $2 million less than expected.
Clarksville town officials on Thursday afternoon opened the sewer-plant construction bids and of the dozen bids the town received, New Albany-based Mac Construction and Excavating Inc. had the lowest at $15.98 million.
Engineering firm HDR’s estimate was $17.95 million, but residents and businesses will likely still see a major hike in their sewer bills this fall as the town prepares to sell bonds to finance most of the estimated $28.7 million for the sewer plant and other improvements.
